RACE DAY

Saturday MORNING May 9th was the 5K Breast Cancer 'race' at The Gateway in SLC. What a FUN day!

My Aunt Ann had ironed our shirts the day before and got our papers to pin to our shirts.

My Aunt Ann is my Mom's oldest sister. She is a BC survivior. (My Mom is the second-born.)
Each of us had Mom's name on our pink paper on our backs.

The masses, and not everyone would squeeze into the picture!
Amy and I ran along side each other the whole race, each listening to our iPods. We finished in 35minutes. Jenny did a steady speed walk --lost in the crowds. Aunt Ann and her friends started a nice stroll together but finished separtately --due to A.A. talking to people, taking in the sights, and taking pictures. She crossed the finish line in an hour and a half.At the finish line there was FREE water bottles, bananas, oranges, and whole wheat bread slices.
What a welcome treat!
Here we are resting after the race. The Surviors' had their own 'cafe' and partioned off area. Aunt Ann and her friend Susan brought back muffins and cookies for us. The sugar cookies were like the store bought kind -lots of frosting and sprinkles on top. The sprinkles, however, were the pink ribbon of breast cancer! Multiple shades of pink. How cute!!

After the race there was a little ceremony for the surviors. A lady sang "Amazing Grace" and at the end of the song they released 25 doves. AA and her friends paid for a dove to be in Mom's name. Pretty special.

Creative Supporters of the Race.
Other cute slogans we saw along the way...
"Kristen's Rack Pack"
"The 3 B's race to save the double D's"
"Big or Small, save them all"
